Kjeller Vindteknikk awarded large contract for E39
Statens Vegvesen chose Kjeller Vindteknikk to measure the wind climate at the fjords Sulafjorden and Vartdalsfjorden in Møre og Romsdal. Kjeller Vindteknikk is subcontractor to Fugro OCEANOR whose task it is to measure waves and ocean currents in the fjords.
The measurement campaign will consist of advanced wind measurements and analysis from six measurement masts which will measure wind over a period of four year, with a choice of extension for up to eight years. The assignment fortifies Kjeller Vindteknikk’s position as the company within wind measurements and wind analysis in Norway.
The measurement masts in the project have a height of 80 – 100 meter and will stand on each side of the fjords. The measurements will produce a good overview on which climate loads the future bridges will be exposed for. A further option involves the use of Lidar-technology to measure the wind field across the fjord.
Kjeller Vindteknikk has already set up and operated 13 met masts for Statens Vegvesen in Rogaland, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane, Nordland and Troms. ”It is exiting to be able to document the wind climate along Norwegian fjords with this amount of detail and be a part of the planning of this large infrastructure project. We hope that detailed wind measurements can enable the building processes to be conducted safe and efficiently” says CEO in Kjeller Vindteknikk Lars Tallaug.
